Senior Occupational Therapist
Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Hi, I'm Stephen, an Occupational Therapist and the person behind Sunshine C OT.

I've been working as an OT for many years across hospitals, community health, paediatrics, aged care and disability, both in Australia and overseas. That experience has given me the opportunity to work with people of all ages, with a really wide range of needs, backgrounds and life experiences.

What I enjoy most about OT is getting to know the person behind the referral. I want to understand what your life actually looks like, what is important to you, what is getting in the way, and what would genuinely make things easier or better.

I like to keep things relaxed and human. I'll always make time for a proper conversation, explain things clearly and make sure you feel comfortable asking questions. I don't believe good therapy should feel clinical or rushed. It should feel collaborative, practical and like you have someone genuinely working alongside you.

My experience includes Functional Capacity Assessments, assistive technology, home modifications, SIL and SDA assessments and reports, as well as ongoing occupational therapy and capacity building. I work closely with participants, families, support coordinators and other professionals to make sure recommendations are realistic and actually make sense for the person.

Outside of work, I'm usually at the gym, surfing, travelling, gaming or watching anime. It also means that if I'm working with a child who wants to spend half the session talking about Pokémon, Minecraft or their favourite game, I'm usually more than happy to hear about it.

Sunshine C OT is intentionally personal. When you get in touch, you're dealing directly with me. I'll complete your assessment, write your report and remain your point of contact throughout the process.

For me, good OT is pretty simple. Listen properly, understand the whole person, and take the time to do things thoroughly. The best outcomes come from looking beyond the obvious and finding solutions that genuinely fit someone's life.

Frequently asked questions

No referral is needed. Anyone can get in touch — participants, family members, carers, support coordinators, plan managers, GPs, or other allied health professionals. Simply fill out the form below or give us a call and we'll take it from there.

I work with NDIS plan managed and self managed participants, as well as private paying clients. If you're unsure about your funding situation, just get in touch and I'll help you work it out.

Most FCAs take between 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the complexity of the participant's needs. This includes the face-to-face assessment plus time for gathering background information from relevant parties. A written report follows after the assessment.

Yes, I regularly travel to rural and regional Queensland for assessments, home modification visits and assistive technology support. Travel to rural areas is arranged by negotiation. Get in touch with your location and I'll let you know what's possible.

I work across the full lifespan, from young children through to aged care, with experience across a wide range of physical, neurological, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities.

I aim to respond to all referrals within one business day and schedule appointments as promptly as possible. Timeframes depend on location and current availability. If there is urgency, please mention this when you get in touch and I'll do my best to accommodate.

Every assessment, report and communication is handled personally by me — there are no junior clinicians or admin layers. You'll always know exactly who you're working with, which is especially valued by support coordinators who need consistency and reliability.

After the assessment is completed, a comprehensive written report is prepared and provided to the participant, their support coordinator or plan manager, and the NDIA as appropriate. Reports are written to align with NDIS evidence requirements to support the best possible funding outcomes.

Yes — Telehealth appointments are available and work really well for a range of situations. This includes follow-up sessions after an in-person FCA, ongoing therapy check-ins, assistive technology reviews, and initial consultations. Telehealth is also a great option for participants in rural or remote areas where regular in-person visits aren't practical. All you need is a phone or device with a camera and a stable internet connection.
